FOUR MEMBERS OF THE LEGAL COMMUNITY DISCUSS THEIR TOP TEN PRACTICE TIPS FOR NAVIGATING YOUR FIRST LEGAL JOB

Hon. Caroline Baker, Judge, 295th District Court: Judge Baker has served as a Harris County District Judge for 15 years. Prior to the bench, she was a partner in the litigation firm of McFall, Sherwood & Sheehy.

Tom Van Arsdel, Shareholder at Winstead: Mr. Van Arsdel’s practice includes litigation and counseling in business torts, lender liability, intellectual property and complex commercial disputes.

Malcolm Hawk, International General Counsel for ExxonMobil (ret.): Mr. Hawk spent 28 years with ExxonMobil, including serving as chief counsel for Europe and Asia/Pacific.

Amy Hawk, Associate Director, Blakely Advocacy Institute: Ms. Hawk worked as a civil litigator for 10 years before joining the UHLC staff. She likely made most of the practice blunders you’ll be warned about, so hopefully you can learn from her mistakes.
